Privacy policy

Be Right Back isn’t open yet. For now, this site does one thing: it keeps the waitlist for invites. Here’s what we keep when you join, and why. The app will get its own policy before it opens.
What we keep when you join
When you join, we save:
- Your email address, in lowercase, so you’re only on the list once.
- Your answer that you’re 18 or over.
- That you agreed to hear from us, and the exact words you agreed to.
- The chat apps you ticked, if you ticked any. That part is optional.
- Which form you used: the one on the home page, or the one on the waitlist page.
- When you joined.
That’s all. We don’t ask for your name, and nothing else about you goes on the list.
Keeping out spam
To keep bots off the list, we count how often each visitor tries to join. Our server turns your IP address into a code, using a secret key, and stores only that code and the count. We never store your IP address itself.
Counts are cleared once they’re a day old, the next time anyone uses a form.
Why we keep it
Only to email you about your place on the list: to send your invite when there’s room, and to tell you how to get started. We won’t email you about anything else.
The chat apps you ticked help us invite people whose chats we can already read. Which form you used tells us which page works better.
You agreed to this when you joined. You can change your mind any time by leaving the list.
We never sell the list, and we never let anyone else market to you.
Who handles it for us
Two services run this site for us:
- Vercel hosts the website and counts visits (see Analytics, below). Like any web host, it sees your IP address when it sends you a page, and may keep it in its logs for a short time.
- Supabase hosts the database the list is kept in.
They handle your data only to run the site for us, and they may do so outside your country. Nobody else gets the list.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and where they came from. It doesn’t use cookies, and it shows us totals, not people. It doesn’t tell us who you are.
If a page address has your email in it, we take it out before the visit is counted.
Cookies
We don’t set any cookies, and our analytics don’t use them either.
How long we keep it
Until you leave the list, or until the waitlist ends. When either happens, we delete your details.
Your choices
- See what we hold about you: reply to any email from us, and we’ll send it to you.
- Correct it: reply to any email from us with the change.
- Delete it: reply to any email from us, and we’ll delete your details.
- Leave the list: use the link in any email we send.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Adults only
Be Right Back is only for adults, 18 and over. If you tell us you’re under 18, we don’t save your email. If you think someone under 18 has joined, reply to any email from us and we’ll delete their details.
Keeping it safe
The list is kept in a locked database that only we can open. The site never shows it to anyone, and nobody can use the form to find out whether you’ve joined.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. We’ll never use your email for something new without asking you first.
